A recent development has resulted in a blatant action by Hawaii’s Supreme Court that raises the possibility of undermining the right to bear arms, one of the fundamental liberties guaranteed by the US Constitution.

This erroneous decision, which invalidates this constitutional protection, is a sobering reminder of the worrying contempt that some political groups have all too frequently shown for the rule of law and individual liberties.

Hawaii’s rogue state Supreme Court ruling brazenly nullifying the constitutional right to bear arms only underscores what a sham it is for the left to call Trump a “dictator” or to moan about “domestic extremists.” Whether it’s kicking people off the ballot, inventing unprecedented criminal charges, ignoring immigration law, calling to pack the Court, or now just ignoring it entirely, every assault on America’s “norms” in the past decade has come from the left.

For them, keeping power seems to justify literally anything

Not only is the decision by the Hawaii Supreme Court to deny residents their right to keep and carry guns a violation of the Second Amendment, but it also strikes at the core of our constitutional republic. The court has created a risky precedent by flagrantly disregarding long-standing constitutional standards, which could undermine the fundamentals of our judicial system.

This verdict is especially concerning because of the larger context in which it takes place. The political left has been acting in a way that shows a flagrant contempt for democratic norms and the rule of law for many years. Whether it’s trying to remove people from the voting rolls, creating novel criminal accusations, or supporting court-packing plans, the left has continuously demonstrated a readiness to bend or break the law in order to gain power.

The left’s response to President Trump exposes their blatant dishonesty. They criticize him as a “dictator” and bemoan the emergence of “domestic extremists,” yet they also employ strategies that go against the very values they profess to support. In actuality, the left, not the right, has been the driving force behind every attack on American norms throughout the last ten years.

An ideology that puts power and control above all else is at the core of this problem. The left believes that power is justified in any situation, and that the means justify the ends. This way of thinking not only goes against democratic ideals but also seriously jeopardizes the freedoms and liberties that serve as the cornerstone of our society.

We must speak up and fight for our rights in the face of such flagrant disrespect for fundamental constitutional foundations. The right to keep and bear arms is an essential component of personal freedom and self-determination, not merely a constitutional protection. We cannot allow politicians driven by power or rogue courts to deprive us of this fundamental freedom.

We have a responsibility as concerned people to hold the legal system and our elected leaders responsible. We have to insist that they follow the law and uphold the fundamentals of our Constitution. Regardless of where they come from on the political spectrum, attempts to weaken our rights and freedoms must be met with vigilance.

Finally, the Supreme Court of Hawaii’s decision serves as a clear warning about the threats faced by those who wish to weaken our fundamental liberties. We cannot afford to do nothing but watch as our basic liberties are taken away. It is our collective responsibility to protect our liberties and rights and to make sure that democracy’s tenets are preserved for present and future generations.
